I agree with the first point because I am also a student while teaching. I look at the posts often trying to be one of the first to say something to my classmates.
I also like the idea of students using the post as part of a paper. I always have the students respond to at least two other classmates, but the reply must be 25 words or more.

The first point is true.
Students who post first do better. They are vested, looking for replies and they check back andthenpost again.
Some of the other points do not work for mth class.
